Long-awaited, hard-earned and sweet...

10/10/2004, the penultimate race of the F1 season at Japan - a season swept away by Ferrari. 13th win for Michael Schumacher in that season, 15th for Ferrari out of a total of 17 (18). Saying that 2004 was a season 'dominated' by Ferrari would be an understatement.
19/06/2005, the US Grand Prix at Indianapolis. The in-famous race which Michelin teams boycotted and Michael Schumacher won a farcical 6-car race. That it would turn out to be the only win for Ferrari, was a hard-to-digest fact for a Ferrari fan and beleive me, it hurt.
04/23/2006, the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola. Schumi starts from the pole and wins despite tough resistance from the Renault of Alonso. 85th victory of his career and a win after almost a year and a half (if we dont count the U.S.G.P.)
For a Ferrari fan, seeing Schumi do the trademark pump-fisting after crossing the chequered flag - probably the most long-awaited scene.
Effort put in by Ferrari the whole post-season to come out of last years debacle, to change the car to make it atleast competitive (if not better) with the Mclarens and Renaults, makes it a really hard-earned victory.
Knowing that it was Schumi who was chasing Alonso at Imola last year and to turn the tables around this time...makes it a sweet victory.
I know, Renault (and maybe McLaren) still have a better car than Ferrari this season. Ferrari will have to fight hard and still only a miracle can make them win the Constructors and Schumi the drivers title.
I beleive in miracles. Miracles do take place. God does miracles...
I have seen GOD... he drives for FERRARI!!!

Finally ur Schumi made it after 18 months :) Enjoy while it lasts :-P
@sal: u bet...I will.
I hope, this doesnt turn out to be the only win this season :-p
and ofcourse this post was long due. I had thot abt it, for a long time...was jus waiting for a win
one swallow does not make a summer...
MS had to win at imola, coz, by far, it has been ferrari's strongest track (and i mean from a purely technical standpoint, not counting the crowd support). even last year, he had got his only dominating performance of the season at this track.
what needs to be seen that last year, he was faster than alonso by over 2s, this time the gap was much less. so though i dont think that ferrari has significantly progressed, at least they have managed to pick up, what was supposed to be, a very safe win for them.
unfortunately, it seems that we are going to witness another renault-dominated season.
this is frm Pay Symonds, Renaults engineering director.
"Hats off to Michael and Ferrari, because they pulled a blinder! From our point of view, we could have run our planned strategy and still finished second"
no doubt, a lot of credit must go to the strategy. coz they timed their pitstops to perfection.
let us hope that this season turns out to be a bit more close than recent ones.
and schumi makes it 2 in a row, with an amazing eurpean GP.
those who thot, that Imola was a fluke...think again!!!
GO FERRARI!!!
