the year that was...

like last year, here I am with a look-back at the events of 2005.

As the sun sets for the last time this year...
with parties to attend and lots to cheer...
for a moment lets look back at this years events...
some causing a dent, some spreading flowery scents!!!

it was the year...

when the game of cricket took a backseat...
As GANGULY and CHAPPEL created a lot of heat...
when DALMIYA's rule was declared dead...
and PAWAR took over as the BCCI Head.!!!

when another record TENDULKAR earned...
surpassing GAVASKAR, for his 35th ton...
when England regained its lost glory...
and Australia had an ASHES 'sob-story'!!!

when water again showed it's wrath...
and went on a destruction path...
CHENNAI and BOMBAY got heavy rains...
and LOUISIANA had to go thru the KATRINA pains!!!

when bombings were the order of the day...
as DELHI, BANGALORE and LONDON subway, got hit its way...
after 12 years, Bombay could clear it's scar...
and ABU SALEM was finally behind the bars!!!

when the vatican was shocked with the POPEs' demise...
and a BENEDICT rose, in their very own skies...
even BIHAR decided it was time for a change...
and LALOO was forced to end his reign!!!

When JEN decided, to let go BRAD PITT...
as he and JOLIE, made a lovely 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith'...
Even Indians decided it was time to cheat...
and we had our own SAIF-AMRITA split!!!

when BACHCHANs again grabbed the limelight...
with hits after hits, to the crowds delight...
and when a swollen intestine in AB was discovered...
the whole nation prayers were answered, and he quickly recovered!!

when even AAMIR couldnt control the fall of 'THE RISING'...
why it took so long for the film to complete, was so very surprising...
when HARRY POTTER ruled supreme...
with a hit book and a hit film, to his credit!!

when everyone started watching the tennis game...
as India had in it, her very own dame...
A star with an attitude as powerful as her shots...
In SANIA-MANIA, the whole nation was caught!!!

when FERRARI had a lame f-1 season...
as SCHUMI just cudnt win, for whatsoever reason...
our very own fastest Indian on wheel...
NARAIN also went away, without any squeal!!!

the search-engine war continued this year...
MS, YAHOO and GOOGLE, fighting with arrows and spears...
a complete portal is everyone's aim...
whoever wins, it will be our gain!!

the new year awaits...as this one ends...
a lot in store, a mountain to ascend...
heres wishing 2005 good-bye...
and hoping in 2006, everyone will fly high!!
